Fine lines and wrinkles on the face can make you appear tired, worried, and older than you really are. Fortunately, some of these small wrinkles and crow’s feet can be made less visible through BOTOX® injections. BOTOX® doesn’t actually treat the skin directly. Instead, it affects nerve action, causing the facial muscles in the treated area to relax.
Muscle contraction is what causes these dynamic wrinkles to appear. When BOTOX® is administered by a skilled professional, the facial skin remains smoother because it isn’t compressed by muscle movements. The positive effects are quite dramatic, and most individuals report satisfactory results lasting for months.
How BOTOX® Works
BOTOX® utilizes a purified protein solution. It was originally developed to aid in the control of muscular spasms. Nowadays, its primary use is to help smooth out facial lines and wrinkles. When skillfully injected into certain areas, the BOTOX® fluid settles down in the tissues just below the lower dermal layer. Individuals treated with BOTOX® can still smile, frown, and make other facial expressions, but the skin remains taut, meaning that dynamic smile lines and crow’s feet aren’t anywhere near as visible as before.
Consultation and Treatment
We want to consult with the client so that we can examine the face closely and offer suggestions as to the preferred treatment method. BOTOX® works best on small, dynamic wrinkles that form around the corners of the mouth, around the edges of the eyes and on the forehead.
If we agree that these injections will achieve the desired look, we can move forward with planning your treatment session. There is no downtime for the client after treatment, and no special post-treatment regimen need be undertaken. The client can resume most all normal activities immediately.
A Repeatable Treatment
After some months go by, the BOTOX® solution is flushed from the body along with other waste. A repeat treatment will be necessary at this time. However, each subsequent treatment requires the use of less and less of the solution. The muscles of the face are slowly becoming trained to stay relaxed.
