Folliculitis is an infection of hair follicles. This condition is commonly known as ingrown hairs. Folliculitis may be superficial or deep in the dermis. This occurrence involves the formation of a pustule in the skin follicle which is often irritating and painful. Contributing factors to developing this skin condition include poor personal hygiene, tight clothing, wound healing, lack of exfoliating, lack of skin hydration, shaving or waxing.
To effectively treat folliculitis, we use our laser hair removal system called LightSheer. Laser Hair Removal can get right to the “root of the problem” (pun intended) by destroying the hair by its root and preventing future hair growth. If there is no hair to be trapped in the skin, no irritation can occur.
Another treatment you can use (but not in conjunction with lasers) is a Retin A cream. These creams help to prevent the build up of dead skin cells. When our skin cells build up on top of the hair follicles, it causes the hair to become irritated or infected underneath the skin. However, using a Retin A cream is only a temporary solution. For a more permanent option, try Laser Hair Removal.
